Process Safety Engineering

It is important in design and oil and gas operations that potential hazards are identified and mitigating measures are in place to prevent the unwanted release of energy or hazardous chemicals into locations that could expose employees and others to serious harm. This course provides the knowledge necessary to acquire a consistent approach to achieve efficient development to effectively manage process safety in production facilities.

Upon completion of the training, participants would be able to

  • Reduce the number of Process Safety related incidents
  • Reduce the risk of a major accident
  • Reduce the number of process shutdowns
  • Reduce start-up time after planned or unplanned shutdowns
  • Understand different aspects of process design that influence process safety
  • Increase in the efficiencies of personnel through reduction of operation costs and performance
  • Competently evaluate the mechanical integrity of process equipment
  • Identify hazards associated with process fluids regarding the impact on material degradation
  • Detect and mitigate methods for different types of hazards
  • Describe standards and participate in the deterministic methods of safety engineering,
  • Explain the different elements of process safety management and identify strategies for implementation,
  • Identify and describe the safety-critical elements in the production process, explain the most relevant features of asset integrity
