We had a good time at the 46th Nigeria Annual International Conference and Exhibition (NAICE) hosted by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Nigeria Council. NAICE. The event celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Women Leadership Program, focusing on the theme, “African Energy Market: Leveraging Female Development Opportunities.” Our Principal Consultant, Lonadek Global Services, Dr. Ibilola Amao brought her extensive expertise and passion for empowering women in the industry to the forefront.
During the panel discussion, Dr. Ibilola served as the knowledgeable and engaging moderator on the pressing need to take education and training to the grassroots level, empowering women and young individuals regardless of their educational backgrounds, to ensure the sustainable growth of the energy sector. Recognizing the significance of home-grown solutions, the panel emphasized the importance of extending energy initiatives to rural areas, effectively bridging the energy gap in these regions.
One of the focal points of the discussion was the need to create a level playing field for women in the industry. The panel session boasted an impressive lineup of influential industry figures, including the President of the Nigerian Association for Energy Economics (NAEE), Professor Yinka Omorogbe, SAN, who delivered an inspiring keynote presentation virtually.
Notable discussants in the event included Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan, Chief Strategy and Sustainability Officer of NNPC Limited; Roberta (Robbie) Oshiobugie, General Manager of Business Transformation at Shell Companies in Nigeria; Evi Ifekwe (FCIPD, UK), Executive Director of People and Country Services at TotalEnergies; and Godfrey Ogbechie, Group Executive Director of Rainoil Limited, among others.
